  • Efficacy/Effect: Prevention of lumpy skin disease in cattle
  • Raw material and dosage: LSD attenuated live virus 10 4 TCID 50 or higher
  • Dilution: Appropriate amount of purified water 
  • Packaging unit: 20 servings (20ml) 
  • Dosage and administration: Subcutaneous injection of 1 ml/two doses
  • Injection method: Withdraw 5 ml of the diluent using a sterile syringe and place it into the lyophilized vaccine container. Shake well to ensure the lyophilized portion is completely dissolved. Then, withdraw this solution and place it into the remaining diluent container. Mix well before use. Shake the bottle again before drawing up the syringe.

1. What kind of vaccine is ‘Lumpyvax®’?

LumpyVax is a modified live vaccine . It is a safe vaccine that has been proven to be effective in preventing Lumpy Skin Disease .

 

2. What is the withdrawal period for RumpyVax?

The withdrawal period is 0 days (0 days for milk, 0 days for meat). However, in South Africa, where the vaccine manufacturer is located, the withdrawal period for all vaccines is set to 21 days, and so LumpyVax’s English packaging lists it as 21 days. This is a regulation in that country.  In most countries, it is listed as 0 days. 

 

3. How do I dilute RumpyVax?

When you open the box of LumpyVax, you will find a ‘small glass vial (blue label)’ containing the freeze-dried vaccine and  a ‘large white vial (white label)’ containing 20ml of diluent .
